Heard of glamping?
Experience the great outdoors in style in these five amazing destinations.
If you love the great outdoors but don't love to rough it, glamping is for you. As the name suggests, glamping is a more glamorous version of camping with luxurious accommodation and facilities.
It’s about getting back to nature without getting back to basics; taking a break from the daily grind and feeling the earth under your feet without having to rough it in a sleeping bag on the floor of a tent.
There’s a range of glamping accommodation on offer around Australia, ranging from a geodesic dome, to a tree house or resort-style tent.
Here are some of our favourite examples of glamping holidays that offer a unique getaway to recharge your batteries in a whole new way.
1. Wine country safari
The glampinghub.com is a website dedicated to unique outdoor accommodation around the world.
One of their listings is nestled in the rolling wine country of the Hunter Valley in NSW. The luxurious safari tent offers an off-grid glamping experience without sacrificing comfort, with all the amenities glampers need to feel right at home. Stylish furnishings, an en-suite bathroom with hot water and power points, a mini-fridge, utensils, cookware, and cutlery.
Outside, you can listen to the birds from a private deck featuring beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, reclining camp chairs, and an outdoor fireplace.
2. Meet The Twelve Apostles
If the adventure alone of Victoria’s Great Ocean Road isn’t enough to get you excited, then glamping on Pebble Point just a stone’s throw from The Twelve Apostles will surely do the trick.
Pebble Point Glamping is an exclusive adults-only bush retreat conveniently located at the end of the Great Ocean Walk in the small coastal village of Princetown, approximately two and a half hours from Melbourne.
Six beautifully appointed glamping tents include king-size beds with a natural latex mattress, a choice of pillows, pure cotton linen and spacious en-suite bathrooms to kick back and relax in, after a day of exploring the three stunning national parks within metres of your tent.
3. A dome with a view
Advertising itself as the perfect getaway in the heart of Western Australia’s beautiful Margaret River, Mile End Glamping is a great location to relax, explore the local wineries and enjoy the wildlife and native bush from your own exclusive dome.
Perfect for two people, you’ll stay in a luxurious light-filled geodesic dome with a private bathroom, kitchen, king-size bed, a barbecue and a private spa.
4. Where luxury meets sustainability
Perched just steps from the waves that lap Australia’s west coast, the high-end Eco Beach Resort is just over an hour’s drive south of Broome, WA.
A sustainably focused resort in the pristine and untouched Kimberley region, the award-winning resort has 25 Eco Villas interlinked by over a kilometre of elevated recycled boardwalks, and 30 safari-style tents. For larger groups they also offer The Beach Houses, striking oceanfront accommodation with jaw-dropping views of the Indian Ocean.
There's a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, free yoga classes and tent make up service. The villas and safari tents (which all have en-suite bathrooms) are designed to be environmentally friendly and use renewable energy.
5. Sleep in the canopy in a tree house
Why should birds have all the fun? Glampers will love this Gold Coast tree house with its private, secluded location. The treehouse has two stylish queen bedrooms with all linen and towels provided, and a sleek modern bathroom with all the essentials.
Inviting living and dining areas feature comfortable furniture and plenty of mod cons such as a washer and dryer, TV, and incredible galvanized spiral staircases. The decks surrounding the tree house offer beautiful leafy views and guests have a BBQ to enjoy in the tranquil surroundings.
